Legacy of reliability

Engineering running in the blood for over 5 generations.

For over 60 years, Engineering & Line Boring—formerly known as Lawson Engineering—has been at the forefront of precision engineering and specialist line boring services. Built on generations of family expertise, our reputation is grounded in dependable workmanship, long-lasting results, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced in heavy industry.

Challenges faced in multiple industries, from mining to earthmoving machinery to transport, forestry and agriculture we deliver solutions that stand the test of time - trusted by those at the coal face who demanded reliability and performance 24-7.

Precision. Power. Performance

With a reputation built on reliability, we serve some of New Zealand’s toughest industries.

  • Our portable, hydraulically driven Hoffman boring machine makes light work of even the largest line boring jobs.
With a reach of up to 1000 mm and supported by an automatic bore welder, it rapidly builds up worn holes before the precision boring head restores them to your exact specifications.

  • Our fully equipped mobile workshops feature Lincoln 575 welders, LN25 wire feeders, high-capacity LPG gas and air compressors — all housed in a fully self-sufficient unit.

  • We provide fast, efficient hydraulic repairs, hose replacements, and hydraulic cylinder reseals and rebuilds — whether you bring the gear to us or need it sorted on-site. With a full range of high-pressure fittings and hoses up to 2”, we’ll get your machinery back up and running without the downtime.

  • Precision lathes up to 4000 mm and high-accuracy vertical milling machines — from pins and bushes to threaded shafts, there’s nothing our equipment can’t handle.

  • Our fully equipped Ikamatua workshop spans more than 600 m², with a 2 ha yard — so space is never an issue.
